60 Seconds With... Ben Norris

Ben is an actor and writer. He trained at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. His first solo show, 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Family', won the IdeasTap Underbelly Award at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe before touring the UK to huge acclaim, during which it was also nominated for the Ted Hughes Award.

Best thing you saw last year?

Shows that immediately spring to mind are People, Places and Things, Oil, RoosevElvis, One Night In Miami, Mary Stuart, Fat Girls Don't Dance, and Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons,

Who was your first crush?

I was completely in love with someone called Tia at primary school, and in my mid teens I had a bit of a thing for Lily Allen. Those are the headline early crushes. And I vaguely remember wanting to marry La La, the teletubby, when I was about 2.

Who is your theatre hero?

I wouldn't say I have a theatre hero, per se, but there are people I really admire. Lyndsey Turner is one of them.

Coffee or tea?

Tea first thing in the morning, and then both tea and coffee near-constantly for the rest of the day

North or South London?

I live North at the moment, but so many of my friends are South and I really enjoy spending time there - and East - and the general vibe of those places more, so I'm going to say South (*housemates give chase with pitchforks and flaming torches*)

Favourite PLAY moment so far?

We've been doing a lot of long and quite open improvisations, and the discoveries we've made during those, and the moments AJ and I have shared, have been often hilarious and/or very tender and moving, and that has been a joy. Also I've been wearing heels a lot, which is perplexing everyone we share a rehearsal space with when I'm click-clacking around the men's toilet.

Who would play you in a movie of your life?

Me, please. I need the work.

If PLAY 27 was a song what would it be?

Always On Time by Ja Rule ft. Ashanti
